Bio
Michaela Koudelková is a Czech recorder and traverso player. She performs as a soloist, chamber music player and orchestra player in her home country as well as abroad playing. She completed her Konzertexamen studies cum laude at Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg under the leadership of Peter Holtslag in 2023. In the same year she defended her doctoral thesis at Janáček Academy of Perfoming Arts in Brno. She did her Master Degree in Cracow cum laude in the class of Peter Holtslag and Erik Bosgraaf in 2016.
In 2024 together with ensemble Overtone was awarded with the 1st prize at XII Concorso Internazionale di Musica Antica „Maurizio Pratola“ in l´Aquila. Michaela additionally obtained a special prize of „Luigi Tufano“ for the best traverso player there.Since 2024 Ensemble Sanguineus which Michaela co-founded became also a member of EEEMERGING+ program. In 2023, Ensemble Sanguineus was chosen to be a the finalist of Hofkapelle in Rheinsberg. For the season in 2023 as a part of Overtone, together with Varsavia Galante, they were chosen as a residency ensemble of Fondation Les Arts Florrisants of William Christie. In 2019 and 2022 Michaela was chosen to perform solo recitals during Fringe and Fabulous Fringe at Oude Muziek Festival in Utrecht (NL). In 2019 Michaela was awarded with the 1st prize in the international competition in Israel – Tel Aviv Recorder Competition. In 2018 she was chosen to the final round of Kaleidoscope Vocal Instrumental Competition in Santa Monica (USA) as one of only 6 finalists from 2 000 participants from 88 countries in the world.
As a soloist, chamber and orchestral player, she cooperates with many Czech and foreign orchestras and ensembles, such as Collegium Marianum, {oh!} Orkiestra, Musica Florea, Czech Ensemble Baroque, Wrocław Baroque Orchestra, Cornu Copiae, Overtone, Capella Cracoviensis, Ensemble Diletto, Moravian Chamber Orchestra, Janáček´s Philharmony of Ostrava, La Tempesta, Philharmony of Morava and Silesia, Musica Aeterna, Sine Nomine, Opera Diversa, Philharmony of Brno or Hamburger Symphonikers.
She has performed at many national and international musical festivals, such

Michaela has participated in many international musical courses, such as Summer School of Baroque Music in Kelč and Holešov (CZ), Summer School of Early Music in Prachatice (CZ), the Ringve International Summer Course in Sund (Norway), Akademia Händlowska in Wroclaw (Poland), Arte Dei Suonatore Masterclass (Poland), Akademia Bachowska in Świdnica (Poland). There she had the opportunity to study with the greatest specialists of early music, including Rachel Podger, François Lazarevitch, Allison McGillivray, Robert Hollingworth, Corina Marti, Andreas Böhlen, Peter Holtslag, Kate Clark, Marcello Gatti, Roberto Bando, Karel van Steenhoven, Sarig Sela, Ketil Haugsand, Kristin von der Goltz, Gottfried von der Goltz, Thomas Boysen, Eva Harmuthová, Monika Knoblochová, Bolette Roed, Heiko ter Scheggett and Thijs van Baarsel.
Michaela has won many awards in national and international music competitions; Competition of Early Music Ensembles in Poznań (PL, 2nd prize, 2016), National competition of conservatories (CZ, 1st prize, title of Absolute winner, 2012), Competition at The Summer School of Baroque Music in Kelč and in Holešov (CZ, 1st prize, title of Laureat for three years, 2009, 2010, 2012), International competition Pro Bohemia Ostrava (CZ, 1st prize, title of Laureat and Absolute winner, 2011).
Michaela Koudelková is mostly specialized in the historical performance practice. She is also interested in playing music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Since 2016, she has also been active as a pedagogue. She is currently teaching the recorder class at the Music Academy in Katowice and at Conservatory of Brno. During her doctoral studies she also taught at JAMU in Brno from 2017-2021. Since 2018 she has been teaching at the Summer School of Baroque Music in Holešov.
